| I laugh at people playing RTS games on the console.
But BFME2 was pretty well done. Couldn't bring myself to buy it since I already have it for the PC, but played it at a friend's place. Problem is that everything has to be dumbed own and gimped a little just to get back to the basic functionality of the keyboard and mouse.
We've kinda had 10 years to improve the RTS interface.
But you're right about the cost issue. It's a whole lot easier for people to have a fixed console they can pay $400 for and be set for a few years and KNOW that everything will run just the same as on PrivilegeKid1337's system. I'm a computer gamer at heart, and can afford to keep up with it, but even being extremely affluent it is kind of ridiculous and seems like a waste in comparison with other ways the money can be spent.
At least right now you can build a very high end system for under $1500 if you know what to look for and where to buy it. Still a heck of a lot more than most people/families want to spend.
