Using Notebook as wireless connection?

Seeing as I got an xbox elite for Christmas I am now debating on how I should get xbox live to function without having to fork out $100 for the wireless adapter. Is it possible to connect the xbox to my notebook and use it as the wireless adapter instead? If so how do I go about doing this I tried connecting it through ethernet like the manual said but it doesn't recognize that anything is connected. Not only could I not get it to recognize wireless connection but having trouble trying to transfer music/videos onto the xbox hard drive. Help!!!

I read some of the reviews of the XB360 Wireless Adapter and there was a bunch of people saying they just bought another wireless router to create a bridge. You'd still be using an ethernet cable to connect to the XB, so you wouldn't have to worry about it not working. Depending on what one you buy, it should still be a lot cheaper, and you'd probably get better results than with the adapter anyway.

I was able to hook my laptop up to a 360 and use the wireless in place of the 360 module. It worked but was affected by the overhead of the laptop's network traffic.

JUst go into the properties of the Wireless adator on the laptop. There is an option (I believe under advanced) that 'allows others to use this connection'. Click that, hook up and you are in business.

I would double check your patches and service packs. If it is on one, and not the other... something is different. Also check your login rights. Make sure you are admin on both machines.

yang, you mean have your laptop get wireless internet and you then hook up your 360 to your laptop?

if so, it can be done. you need to enable sharing or ICS (thats xp not sure about vista) then what i found works is using a crossover cable instead of an ethernet.

I just tried using the old lappy to try and it gets an error but on my AW that I am trying to use I have service pack 2 and it is XP not vista, the only cables I have atm are ethernet so if I have to buy new cables I might as well just get a wireless adapter :/
