What is with most of the population of XBL

Today I was on Halo 3 MM and somebody said to not take the mongoose to get the banshee because they wanted it, I took it anyway because it was never "their" vehicle in the first place, it spawns for whoever gets it first.
A enemy brute chopper shoots at me as I get in the banshee, killing me, and then the insults start "Speckz your a retard" "Speckz your a fucking noob" "What the fuck you asshole you stole my vehicle"
And 6 out of the 8 people on my team are yelling obsenitys at me because I took the banshee that that guy "claimed"

When the game is over they say "We almost lost because of that retard" (The score was 3-1)

I hate how easy it is to setup the mic in XBL and that it comes with the system.

Am I a "retard", "noob", "asshole" or are they just being assholes?

I use a special obscenity-filled tirade reserved for young adults that I perfected when 'instructing' subordinates while in the Army. It involves their mothers, small amounts of cash, gorillas, large plants, donkeys, their origin or at least my perception of it, penis size, anal cavities, their choice of extreme alternative lifestyles (not limited to same-sex proclivity by any means), their love of bodily fluids as a snack item, lack of brains and muscle, pubic hair sandwiches, and in the finale, their pedophiliac father and his joy in allowing all his poker buddies in on the nightly festivities in said XBL-users bedroom, which was enjoyed by all involved.

All couched in much more colorful language. While this may not shut them up, it makes me feel better.
